Thurmalox® 230

Color Stable Heat Resistant Coating

Heat resistant coatings, color stable ambient to 1000°F (538°C).
Data Sheet
Spanish DataSheet

Thurmalox 230 series coatings are heat resistant coatings based on silicone resins and thermally stable pigments. They are formulated specifically to protect metal surfaces operating at temperatures from 500°F (260°C) to 1000°F (538°C), with peaks to 1200°F (648°C).

For maximum corrosion protection, prime metal surfaces with Thurmalox 245 silicone zinc dust heat and corrosion resistant primer and topcoat with Thurmalox 230 series. The 245 primer/230 series topcoat system provides outstanding adhesion, film integrity, color stability, corrosion-, weathering-, and thermal shockresistance from ambient to 1000°F (538°C). Thurmalox 230 series coatings are available in a wide range of standard (see Master Color Card) and custom colors.

Attached is the standard SSPC-16 for preparing galvanized and non-ferrous metals. Brush blast with garnet or aluminum oxide to create a 0.5-1.0 mil sharp angular profile. No bead or shot blasting is suitable.

Apply two coats Thurmalox 230/230C to a dry film thickness of 1.5-2.0 mils per coat. Do not apply the 245 primer to aluminum as it contains metallic zinc dust.
